Learn how to configure an anti-cheat to prevent cheating and maintain fair gameplay.
Cheaters can quickly ruin the experience for everyone on a multiplayer server. GrimAC is one of the most advanced, open-source, and highly accurate anti-cheat plugins available, utilizing advanced mathematical models to detect movement and combat hacks with minimal false positives. This guide will show you how to set it up on your MCServerHost server.
Install GrimAC
- Ensure your server is running a plugin based software like Paper or Purpur (GrimAC heavily relies on modern Paper APIs).
- Download the latest version of GrimAC from its official GitHub releases or Modrinth.

- Log into your MCServerHost dashboard, open the
File Manager, and navigate to thepluginsfolder.
- Upload the downloaded
.jarfiles into thepluginsfolder.
- On the top left click "Restart" or "Start" server to load the anti-cheat and generate its configuration folder.

Configure GrimAC Settings
Once the plugin has generated its files, you can tweak settings such as notifications, strictness, and automated punishments.
- In your File Manager, navigate to
plugins/GrimAC/. - Open the
config.ymlfile to customize detection thresholds, alert messages, and notification permissions for staff members. - Save your changes once finished.
Check Permissions and Staff Alerts
To ensure your moderation team can see anti cheat violation alerts in real-time:
- Give staff members the necessary permission node (
grim.alerts) via your permissions plugin (like LuckPerms). - Staff can toggle alerts on or off in-game using the command:
/grim alerts
You can check all permissions here : GrimAC Permissions
Test and Reload
After making adjustments to your configuration files:
Run the reload command in your console or in-game (with proper permissions) to apply changes without restarting the whole server:
/grim reload
You've reached the end of this tutorial! Your anti-cheat system should now be fully configured and ready to protect your server from cheaters. Now all that's left is to invite your friends and enjoy a safer Minecraft experience! (:
