Add custom NPCs to your server for shops, quests, decoration, or just fun.
FancyNpcs is a simple, lightweight plugin that lets you create NPCs using commands, no coding needed. It's fast, so it won't slow your server down even with a lot of NPCs.
What You'll Need
- A Paper (or Paper fork/Folia) server, version 1.19.4 or newer
- The FancyNpcs plugin file for your Minecraft version
Step 1: Downloading FancyNpcs
Go to the FancyNpcs page on Modrinth and download the version that matches your Minecraft version.

Step 2: Uploading FancyNpcs to Your Server
- Log in to your panel and stop your server.
- Open the Files section and go to your
pluginsfolder. - Upload the FancyNpcs file you downloaded.

Step 3: Restarting Your Server
Start your server again and check the console. You should see FancyNpcs load with no errors.

Step 4: Creating Your First NPC
Stand where you want the NPC to appear, then run:
/npc create <name>
This spawns an NPC with your current skin. From here you can customize it:
/npc skin <name> <player>— change what player skin the NPC uses/npc type <name> <entity>— turn it into a mob instead of a player NPC/npc displayname <name> <text>— change the name shown above the NPC/npc equipment <name> <slot> set— give the NPC the item you're currently holding/npc glowing <name> <true/false> [color]— make the NPC glow
Step 5: Adding Interactions
NPCs can run commands or send messages when clicked, using the action system:
/npc action <name> right_click add message <text>
This sends a message to the player when they right click the NPC. You can also use console_command or player_command as the action type to run commands instead.

Step 6: Managing NPCs
/npc listshows all NPCs on your server./npc info <name>shows details about a specific NPC./npc remove <name>deletes an NPC./npc moveto <name>teleports the NPC to your current location./npc move_to <name> <x> <y> <z>teleports the NPC to specific coordinates./npc tp <name>teleports you to the NPC.
For the full list of commands and options, check the FancyNpcs wiki.

Troubleshooting
- Plugin won't load: Make sure you're on Paper (or a Paper fork) and not Spigot, since FancyNpcs doesn't support Spigot.
- NPC skin looks wrong: Double check the player name or skin URL you used is correct.
- Commands not working: Make sure you have permission,
fancynpcs.command.*covers all commands by default for ops.
