Learn how to configure DriveBackupV2 to automatically back up your Minecraft server.

Have you ever lost hours of building progress or player data because of a sudden server crash or corrupted world file? Setting up automated backups is the single best way to protect your server. DriveBackupV2 is a powerful and reliable plugin that lets you automatically back up your server files and databases directly to cloud storage providers like Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, or a local directory.

Install DriveBackupV2

  1. Download the latest DriveBackupV2 .jar file from a trusted source (such as SpigotMC or Modrinth).
  2. Open your MCServerHost dashboard and go to your File Manager.
  3. Drag and drop the .jar file directly into your server's plugins folder.
  4. Restart your server to generate the default configuration files Restart

Configure Cloud Storage and Backup Settings

DriveBackupV2 uses a structured configuration file where you define what gets backed up and where it is sent.

  1. Navigate to plugins/DriveBackupV2/config.yml via your File Manager.
  2. Configure your backup schedule, retention limits (how many old backups to keep), and select your cloud storage provider (e.g., Google Drive). Example structure:
  3. Save the file.

Linking Your Account

Once your configuration is saved, you need to generate the authorization link through your server console.

  1. Open your MCServerHost Console.
  2. Run the reload command to apply your storage provider changes:
drivebackup reloadconfig
  1. Type the manual authorization command to initiate the linking sequence (for example, Google Drive):
drivebackup link googledrive
  1. Check the console output. The plugin will generate a unique code for you. Copy the code and open the link provided in the console.
  2. Enter the code you copied from the console into the designated field on the website.
  3. Sign in with your Google account to authorize the plugin and continue the setup process.
  4. Once you have successfully logged in, go back to your server console to continue with the setup.

Test Your Backup In-House

Once your storage is linked, test the backup system manually to ensure everything is working correctly:

  1. Open your server Console or go in-game with operator permissions.
  2. Run the manual backup command:
drivebackup backup
  1. Check your console logs to confirm that the archive is created successfully and uploaded to your configured cloud storage.

You've reached the end of this tutorial! By now, DriveBackupV2 is fully configured, and your server data is safely protected with automated backups. Grab your friends and play with total peace of mind! (:
